Barbados Advanced Training Program on TVET Management, WorldSkills Research, and Chinese Industry Study Tour Successfully Concluded
From March 10 to 20, 2025, a ten-member delegation from TVET Council Barbados, Barbados Employers’ Confederation, Samuel Jackman Prescod Institute of Technology, Barbados Vocational Training Board and Barbados Community College visited Guangzhou and Jiangxi, China, to participate in the Advanced Training Program on Barbados Vocational Education Management and Barbados’ Research on WorldSkills and Industry Connections in China. Organized by the Global Training Center (GTC), Guangzhou Technician College and Vcom Education, the program offered in-depth training and extensive field studies on China's vocational education system, WorldSkills transformation, industry partnerships, and global collaboration mechanisms.
Thematic Lectures: From Skills to Sustainable Education Strategies
Renowned Chinese education experts delivered sessions on topics including:

At the end of the training, the learners also received the corresponding certificates.
Through course learning and interactive exchanges, the delegation gained a new understanding of China’s vocational education system construction, government guidance, industry participation, and corporate integration. So these modules provided the delegation with valuable insights and applicable models to support vocational education innovation and transformation in Barbados.
Industry and Campus Visits: Experiencing the Chinese TVET Model
Delegates visited key institutions and enterprises in Guangzhou and Jiangxi, including:

lJiangxi South Railway Technical School – Hands-on engagement with optoelectronics students and industry-linked curriculum
lLe’an County, Jiangxi- Understand the current status of local industrial development and government’s supports
The multi-dimensional inspection not only demonstrated China’s achievements in the integration of “skills + industry”, but also provided concrete examples of how China aligns vocational training with emerging industry demands. So the delegation know how to promote the developments in vocational education and industry in the future.
Strategic Milestone: Optoelectronic Technology Training Base of Global Training Base Unveiled in Le’an, Jiangxi
In collaboration with the VCOM Education, People’s Government of Le’an County, the Barbados delegation witnessed the unveiling ceremony of Optoelectronic Technology Training Base of WorldSkills Competition for Global Training Center. In the future, the base will serve as an important platform for cultivating skilled talents, undertaking multiple functions such as skills training, international competition training, and technical standards output, etc.
The delegation also visited rural development zones and local enterprises to understand the link between vocational training and regional revitalization.
Cultural Exchange: Building Trust Through Understanding
In parallel with the training, delegates and hosts engaged in vibrant cultural exchange. Barbados participants introduced their country’s rich heritage and education system. The Chinese side also showcased Lingnan traditional arts and Song Dynasty-style tea rituals, etc., creating an atmosphere of mutual respect and friendship.
China and Barbados have used culture as a bridge and education as a bond to further enhance understanding and emotional connections, and also made the exchanges in vocational education more humane.
Final Review: Partnership Dialogue at Vcom Education Headquarters
The program concluded with a comprehensive review and partnership discussion at Vcom Education headquarters. As one of the main organizers of this event, VCOM has won unanimous recognition from the delegation for its profound accumulation in WorldSkills technical support, international education cooperation, vocational education equipment research and development, and teachers/students training. The two sides held in-depth exchanges on the establishment of a long-term mechanism in the future in terms of teacher training, vocational education resource construction, skill standard docking, and international project incubation, expressing strong intent to establish ongoing collaboration.
Conclusion: Skills as a Global Language
Education has no borders, and skills create the future. The “Advanced Training Program on Barbados Vocational Education Management and Barbados' Research on WorldSkills and Industry Connections in China” project is not only a collision of knowledge, but also a milestone in skill discussion and vocational education development. The successful holding of this event marks a new step in the cooperation between China and Barbados in vocational education. In the future, VCOM Education will continue to work with the Global Training Center to build a global vocational education exchange and cooperation platform, share vocational education experience, and help more countries achieve skill revitalization and talent leap in the context of the new era, and achieve the dual goals of skill improvement and industrial upgrading.
