WorldSkills Online Seminar on the New Skill – Intelligent Security Technology Successfully Held

On April 8, the “WorldSkills Online Seminar on the New Skill – Intelligent Security Technology” was successfully held in a hybrid online and offline format. The seminar focused on the latest trends in intelligent security technology and innovative pathways for developing skilled talent, aiming to lay a solid foundation for the implementation of this newly added skill in WorldSkills Shanghai 2026. More than 80 experts, young competitors, and representatives from enterprises and educational institutions across 25 countries and regions gathered online to discuss the current state and future development of intelligent security technology. The event was hosted by Ms. Jennifer Huang, Director of Global Partnership in Guangdong Vcom Education Technology Co., Ltd.
Josué Emmanuel Reynoso Villanueva, the Skill Competition Manager for Intelligent Security Technology, emphasized that intelligent security technology aligns with global trends in automation, digitalization, and cybersecurity. As a critical skill in addressing global security threats, it requires the cultivation of specialized talent to support industry development. Vcom has already launched its preparations and training initiatives for WorldSkills Shanghai 2026. As the skill Competition Manager, he looks forward to collaborating with all stakeholders to bring new momentum to global security governance.
Li Mingen, Party Secretary of Guangzhou Technician College, noted that the college is one of the earliest Chinese institutions to participate in WorldSkills. It has long been committed to promoting WorldSkills projects and applying for newly added skills. In this intelligent security technology project, the college will join hands with Vcom Education to actively participate in the project’s preparation and promotion, drive the development of related academic programs and competition standards, and foster international exchange and cooperation in this field.
Cathy Wang, CEO of Vcom Education, introduced that as a Global Industry Partner of WorldSkills, Vcom has long been dedicated to the standardization of vocational education and international collaboration. The company provides technical support for five WorldSkills competition skills: Information Network Cabling, Optoelectronic Technology, Electronics, Health and Social Care, and Intelligent Security Technology. Leveraging the Global Training Center platform and based on the WorldSkills Occupational Standards (WSOS), Vcom offers competition training, skills upgrading, and instructor development to multiple countries. She expressed the hope that this seminar will help build industry consensus and serve as a bridge of skills and innovation, contributing to the success of the 48th WorldSkills Competition in Shanghai, China.
Following the keynote speeches, participating experts engaged in in-depth discussions on technical standards, talent development, and international collaboration, offering constructive suggestions for optimizing the competition. Professor Kang Wenxiong from School of Automation Science and Engineering, South China University of Technology, representing shared his insights and raised thought-provoking questions about the field. In response, Vcom’s R&D Director Xiao Shifan provided a comprehensive explanation of the occupational standards and competition modules for the skill. Experts exchanged their perspectives and cutting-edge explorations in the intelligent security field.
At last, Mr. Wan Zhengdong, Deputy Division Chief of Vocational Capacity Building, Guangzhou Municipal Human resources and Social Security Bureau, stated that Guangzhou has been a leader in China’s vocational education sector. The city has established 18 training bases for WorldSkills Competitions in China and achieved remarkable results at the 47th WorldSkills Competition, winning 7 gold, 1 silver, 1 bronze, and 2 medallions for excellence. In the future, Guangzhou will leverage its strengths in manufacturing and digital technology to deepen industry-education cooperation and international exchanges, creating a platform for global youth to grow in the field of intelligent security.
